The PTSA Purpose -- Article II
аwа The Purpose of The PTA is to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
Things you want to know about meetings & committees -- Article X & XI
wа At least 3 general meetings per school year; 7 days notice must be given for any changes or special meetings.
wа QUORUM:а Members present (so majority vote of members at meeting is all it will take to pass motions, amendments, and elections).
wа Committees can be created by executive board.а The chair(s) must present plans to the executive board for approval and must have their consent.
wа No Proxy Voting.а (Art. IV)
Members and Officers -- Article VI & VII
wа You have to pay dues to be a member; once youТre a member of the TC-PTSA, youТre a member of the National and AZ PTA organizations, as well.
wа Officers are:а Pres, VP, Secretary and Treasurer.а Executive Board:а Officers and Committee Chairpeople.
wа Terms limited to two years in one capacityЧmay serve more in other capacities.
wа Any vacancies are filled by a majority vote of the executive Board.
An important reminder -- Article III
wа The organization or members in their official capacities cannot participate in campaigns for or against candidates for public office or devote a substantial amount of its activities in attempting to influence legislation.
Article V Ц some money stuff
wа We have to send dues and insurance monies to the AZ PTA.
Article XV:а Amendments
wа To change the bylaws, you have to give notice of the amendment at one meeting then have a TWO-THIRDS vote of the members present and voting at the next meeting.а Any amendments must be submitted for review and approval by the AZ PTA.
Also Note:а There are not any councils in the current Arizona PTA structure.
